In a double-blind, placebo-controlled study, 34 ALS patients were assigned either placebo or TUDCA (1 g twice daily for 54 weeks) for 3 months. After one year, ALSFRS-R levels (whose higher scores indicate less disability with ALS) improved. TUDCA treatment was well-tolerated. [R]
